Response To Mwambutsya Ndebesa's Article 'Balokole(Evangelicals) Have a Duty To Wipe Out Human Sacrifice

Mr. Ndebesa a Lecturer in the Department History at Makerere University argues that:
The most reasonable explanation for the emergency and persistence of human sacrifice is the personal insecurity, powerlessness and scarcity that people face in this country. There are challenges of diseases such as Aids, unemployment, high cost of living and many others.
These life challenges are faced by a society which has no explanations either for the causes or solutions to the challenges. But somehow insecurity and powerlessness in facing these challenges has always been a condition of the people before. Why is it leading to sacrifice today?
The answer lies in the Balokole or Born – again or Pentecostal movement activities in Uganda. This is not to suggest in anyway that the Balokole are involved in child sacrifice. Far from that. It is to suggest that the healing gospel of the Balokole movement has created and heightened a sense of insecurity, powerlessness and an atmosphere of fear and scare. And in return, this heightened sense of insecurity has led to the search for desperate solutions thus leading to child sacrifice.
The Balokole churches have been turned into physical and psychological therapy centres more than places for spiritual promotion. And the Balokole movement has converted many followers mostly in urban and semi urban centres and this is where most child sacrifice is found. The Balokole healing gospel attributes all human challenges to demons.
The whole atmosphere has been turned into ‘demons’ manufactured by the Balokole. When one is unemployed, it is the demon of unemployment, when business goes bad it is attributed to the demon. Failure to get a visa, a husband or wife, money, infertility, love, a plot of land, passing examinations, name it, is nothing but the work of demons. The citizens who have been listening to Balokole pastors’ sermons are now ‘demon stricken’ so to say.
The demon gospel has become so prevalent that people now think all human problems are due to demons and the solution is beyond their power thus seeking spiritual intervention. Under this manufactured and demon-induced insecurity, people have turned to the mediums of the spirit world namely the pastors and the witch doctors for intercession.
The pastors have demanded money, plots of land, cars etc from their clients before they could help the latter in exorcising and removing the demons.
The witch doctors have demanded from their clients money, property and human blood. The difference between the pastors and the witch doctors is that pastors do not ask for human sacrifice before casting demons but the principle is the same, namely, that you need to pay before the demons are exorcised.
However, the convergence on similarity between the two i.e. pastors and witch doctors is that both strongly believe in the rampant existence of demons, all human challenges are a result of demons, the solution is to exorcise these demons and before the doctor of demons i.e. pastor or witch doctor heals the demons the client must first pay something.
These two are in the industry of ‘creating’ demons in order to later heal them at a fee and have capitalised on the helplessness of the masses who are faced with all sorts of challenges.
Therefore part of the solution to this phenomenon of child sacrifice lies with the Balokole pastors. They have powers and influence over the people, their gospel is popular and they have the means of mass communication i.e. the radio and television. The pastors have to reduce the heightened sense of insecurity that they have themselves created and implanted in the psychic of the people.
They should preach to their flock that most human challenges can be overcome through human efforts with God’s blessings. And that God’s grace is not purchasable as is currently done in the Balokole churches.
The pastors may argue that those involved in child sacrifice are not their converts. However the power, impact and influence of their healing is not limited to their flock. The people listen to their preaching on the streets and the mass media. The demon gospel has circulated to the whole country. The norm that one must pay in order to receive the so called ‘holy water’ or for ‘blessed oil’ to be poured on ones head has penetrated society.
Therefore, the Balokole churches have a duty to reverse these trends. The pastors must come up with a theology to rid this country of the imaginary and manufactured demons that they have created in the minds of Ugandans. Otherwise people will continue to pay for demon healing either in form of items like cars to the pastors or human heads to the witch doctors.

There is child sacrifice also else where in Africa; do you mean the Balokole (Evangelicals) are behind it?
Mr. Ndebesa’s argument is oblivious of the fact that there is child sacrifice else where in Africa. For example the recent sacrifice of Albinos in Tanzania and Burundi. In addition ritual murders are very rampant all over the world . The preponderance of ritual murders must be attributed to the upsurge of Satanism and devil worship all over the world. All over the world many individuals have rejected the Lord Jesus Christ and have sold their souls to the devil. This child sacrifice monster has elites and the rich behind it, that is why it is always pushed under the carpet.

In Uganda secular Radio stations have given a plat form to the devil worshipers to advertise their lies. There are many testimonies Secular radio stations by people who had lost children and recovered them after going to the witchdoctor. In Bukedde a local news paper MAAMA FIINA is given such an incredible plat from. She is depicted as a hero with a lot of money. She is trading the lies that witch doctors in Buganda do not sacrifice children. Who does not know that devils always ask for blood sacrifices? There are levels of blood sacrifice. For example if two women come to the witch doctor to compete for a rich man, they will all be told to make sacrifices. The one with the highest sacrifice will win the game. For example if one of the ladies is willing sacrifice her first son.
These liars are making a flawed argument that the devils in Buganda are very holy? Devils are the same. In Buganda we still have demon possessed people who eat human fresh? If people can reach a level of eating human fresh why not sacrifice children. In Buganda there is a palace where cannibals have lived since time in memorial called Bukunja. How did it get its name?? Child sacrifice has always been part and parcel of devil worship.

Which Balokole (Evangelicals) is Mr. Ndebesa Talking About?
Mr. Ndebesa’s arguments are very inconsistent and hence embedded in many fallacies. To begin with, he commits a fallacy of homogenization by putting the balokole(born agains) in one basket. As far as Uganda is concerned they are the genuine balokole who preach and believe in a gospel of eternal prosperity(eternal verities) and the counterfeit ones who preach a gospel of material prosperity(earthly vanities). It is ridiculous for any one to regard Augustine Yiga, Kakande, Ssozi, Lule, Muwanguzi etc as genuine balokole. Mr.Ndebesa should know that they are witchdoctors in Uganda using the name of Jesus. Similarly, they are many people in Uganda who claim to be born again but they are liars, just take a survey at Makerere University and look at the way they dress; examine whether they is anything Christian them.

Therefore cases like Child sacrifice can not be avoided in a place like Uganda where we have rejected a genuine Christ who saves people from their SINS (Math.1:21) and have instead created OUR OWN COUNTERFEIT CHRISTIANITY. This counterfeit Christ that is evident in the catholic and Anglican churches has already infested the born again movement through the Material prosperity or mammon gospel.
The bible says you can not serve God and Mammon (Mat.6:24). The bible says the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Tim.6:10). Therefore the cause of child sacrifice is THE LOVE OF MONEY and THE LOVE OF THE WORD(materialism). If the balokole preached a gospel that Jesus Christ and the apostles preached, I believe some impact against child sacrifice could be made. Examine these scriptures and compare them with what is being preached.
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.(Matthew 6:19-12)

Mr. Ndebesa should have said that some of the balokole are preaching a gospel that can not counteract vices like child sacrifice.
The Fundamental cause behind the persistence of Child sacrifice in Uganda is Hypocritical Christianity which creates a counterfeit Christ
Mr. Ndebesa is aware that vices like witchcraft , devil worship or Satanism have persisted in Uganda because the so called traditional religions in Uganda have compromised with devil worship. How comes that child sacrifice has become more rampant since the restoration of traditional institutions like Buganda, Bunyoro and Toro kingdoms.
You and I know that the power behind these kingdoms is worshiping devils or demons and one of the popular rituals behind these kingdoms and chiefdoms is sacrificing to these so called gods or devils. Mr.Ndebesa these kingdoms also have radio stations and preach the devil’s gospel. Many witchdoctors advertise on these radios.

Although the heads of these institutions claim to be Christian and even go to ‘worship Jesus on Sunday’, they are devil worshippers by and large.
