Ref: THE NEED FOR A PARLIAMENTARY / JUDICIAL / PUBLIC PROBE INTO HOMOSEXUALISM AND ALL OTHER EVILS
Very warm greetings to you in the name of the Lord Christ Jesus and thanks for your continued stand against homosexualism in this nation, given the many pressures you face from both local and international quarters.
Referring to Pr Robert Kayanja’s response to allegations of sodomy that have featured in the press, I wish to respond as follows:
It is unfortunate that instead of humility and self-examination, Pr Kayanja took such action, alleging rivalry, being framed up by Pr. Michael Kyazze, Moses Solomon Male, Martin Sempa and others, and presented a case of an alleged kidnap, torture and attempt to bribe his aide, Chris Muwonge so that he may pronounce him (Kayanja) a sodomite.
We believe that Pr Kayiira’s kidnap ordeal and the now so called Kayanja aide kidnap is a desperate but tactical attempt to divert attention from the broader anti-homo and cult awareness campaign, and scare off all that would have dared to come out and share their experiences of sodomy, fraud, sexual exploitation, miracle faking, human sacrifices and other human rights abuses in some of our spiritual entities irrespective of divides, raising concern for every right thinking Ugandan keen about the future of our children, spiritual and moral values. Many victims now ask: If Pr Kayiira who has been standing for us can be kidnapped, tortured and detained, how about me?
There is neither rivalry nor enmity, but a case of pro or anti true Christian moral values divide:
Apparently, world spiritual trends indicate that what is happening is not rivalry, but a shift from tolerance with sin to intolerance. It requires discernment to recognize so, otherwise, many are tempted to think it is an attack on one church or its leadership. What is unfolding has nothing to do with rivalry as Pr Kayanja has labored to portray it since none of us involved hates, envies or desires his downfall; but it is a divide based on Biblical (true Christian) principles, values and character, similar to what has happened in the Anglican Communion. In fact, a crucial point in the history of the Born Again Churches in Uganda has come.
Since we launched the major campaign in 2006, Churches led by their leaders have been fast splitting between the pro-evil and anti-moral values, and the pro-God and pro-moral values. In both cases, Christians are making decisions that affect not only their near futures, but eternal destinies. Whereas in the former group materialism and leader’s dogma characterized by twisting scripture to justify frauds and silence victims of abuse, exploitation and other evils are prevalent; in the latter group, Bible based Christian moral values, ethics and integrity is what matters.
There is no doubt that since 2006, the media has been awash with all sorts of stories of evils committed in the name of God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Lord, ancestral spirits etc, and hard to access has been justice and redress to the victims.
It ought to be clear that the bulk of pastors accused of sodomy like Pr Grace Kitaka (Liberty Worship Centre), Pr Isaac Kyobe Kiwewesi (Kansanga Miracle Centre) and now Pr Robert Kayanja belong to the Miracle Centre Church family whose mentor is Kayanja himself. And it is no secret that many of the fraudsters and the wicked have found leadership ranks and solace in the Presiding Apostle Joseph Sserwadda led BAFFE-U.
Apparently, the church pastors implicated in all sorts of evils like sodomy, fraud, extortion, sexual exploitation, rapes, thefts, miracle faking and others have been cited by freely confessed, not coerced victims, and not even a single one has ever been given or promised money, travel opportunities abroad or any other favours to lie against any of those implicated. We have only given a hand by standing with them, offering them counsel and moral support to have a sense of value for life again. We don’t have money to offer lucrative opportunities to people hurt by booming business empires.
Chris Muwonge’s alleged kidnap, torture and offer of bribery, a production of Miracle-Wood:
It is amazing that honest as he claims, Pr Kayanja can, after condoning Pr Kayiira’s brutal kidnap, shamelessly and remorselessly choose to create Miracle-Wood and produce e kina-Uganda verion , treat Ugandans to the Ugandan version of Nolly-wood, ekina-Uganda, a replica of eki-Nigeria thinking, such a kidnap movie would be accepted wholesale as the truth. How I wish he felt shame:
- Why would Pr Michael Kyazze, Moses Solomon Male, Martin Ssempa and others in the anti-homo campaign labor to raise such a huge amount of money, U S $ 120,000 (U Shs 240,000,000) to bribe a fake witness, hire armed mercenaries to kidnap insignificant Chris Muwonge and forcefully extract a confession that Pr Kayanja sodomized him, when there are victims who have voluntarily come out because of the sustained campaign, accusing not only Pr Kayanja of sodomy, but other leaders of various rots and are willing to share their stories if an independent victim friendly inquiry, judicial or parliamentary probe is established?
- With detailed security, why did it take so long (seven days) to declare that such an ‘important’ aide had disappeared, when Pr Kayiira’s kidnap, detention and being charged with criminal trespass spread like bushfire? We spent the bulk of Saturday 18th and Monday 20th at CPS Kampala and even greeted Police Spokeswoman Judith Nabakooba who was preparing to address journalists, but no word of a missing Kayanja aide was heard of till Kayanja’s press conference.
- If anyone (not any of us in the campaign) were serious enough about a kidnapping that would make an impact on a rival, would it make sense to target such an insignificant Chris Muwonge? Why not target powerful figures in Rubaga Miracle Centre whose testimonies about their boss can carry much weight? Isn’t it obvious that only fools can waste time and resources on such a cadre.
Criminal trespass and possession of defamatory material:
All years in ministry, I have known places of worship to be public, unless there is a warming, ‘Open to members only,’ or ‘entry restricted.’ Simple common sense dictates that trespass can’t apply to a place of worship since that is where the evil in society can go for transformation. So even if Pr Kayiira had gone right up to Rubaga Miracle Centre premises, which he didn’t do (remember he was kidnapped along Nabunnya Rd), trespass wouldn’t arise. Surprising, despite a night prayer where people are expected to move to and fro all night, Pr Kayiira was charged of Criminal Trespass. Kayanja owes us an explanation: Has Rubaga Miracle Centre sank so deep that it has lost any sense of being a church, and become a den of mafia fearful of intruders and must therefore ensure a 24 hour armed commando-like security men watch ready to kidnap anyone foreign who approaches it?
How can such a man, claiming great anointing, rely on well trained armed personal bodyguards when the Bible teaches trust in God, and Psalms 20, 23 and 127 tell it all? Why not pray for Pr Kayiira not to intrude when he claimed to intercede so that none of the 2006 presidential candidates could die and he has claimed incredible miracles virtually all over the world? If guns replace God, can that still be a church?
In the article, Kayanja says of Pr Kayiira, ‘After being interrogated by the Police for over six hours, it was revealed that he had been sent by his boss to get information about a room in my church where they allege I sexually harass young boys.’ That being the case then, how could he have been in possession of defamatory material giving credence to the charge? Why wasn’t the lap-top handed over that same night as exhibit?
Miracle Centre participation in the anti-homosexual demonstration
If what is reported in Red Pepper, April 29th 2009 is true, then I am surprised that Pr Kayanja can use his followers’ participation in the recent anti-homo demonstration to claim patriotism against homosexuality. If he is so, there is no way he would have cared even if anyone was investigating him of homosexuality. In Kampala, if a thief being chased manages to take strides ahead of his chasers, the same shrewdly raises alarm of chasing a thief for people to give way. By the time real thief chasers get on scene, the thief is already escaped.
His argument that he is a son of a Reverend, a priest and church leader is not sufficient to dispute the allegations against him since in the United States, the Catholic Church has so far paid more than U S $ 2 billion to victims sodomized by priests, Episcopal Church Bishop Gene Robinson is a practicing gay, many churches are pastured by homosexuals, and what more; Evangelical Church leader Pastor Ted haggard finally resigned and confessed after his exposure of his homosexual activity with a male prostitute, and back home, fellow pastor Grace Kitaka was exposed for sodomy.
Besides, growing up in church doesn’t make one a Christian; yet even Christians can fail and fall. Understanding so requires simple logic.
Furthermore, speaking against something doesn’t necessarily mean hating and not doing it. If it meant so, medical personnel who vow to protect life wouldn’t be aiding abortion, and none would smoke; and renowned anti-corruptionist Teddy Ssezi Cheeye wouldn’t be in prison over stealing Global Fund monies and falsifying records.
I therefore suggest he finds another excuse to convince the nation.
Living in denial of the reality: A simple proverb goes; there is no smoke without a fire.
What is going on is not fighting each other; it is a genuine cause that is being pushed hard to derail by Kayanja and his aides instead of admitting there is a problem and getting quickly back on course for true salvation through Christ Jesus. Just be sure, we are ready to pay the price, even if it means death; this is a cause for which we are ready, just like Biblical Esther, to die for and no matter how long it takes us, we or our children will one day enjoy the fruits of persistence and endurence.
If it were mere rivalry and enmity as Kayanja and his propagandists are trying to portray it, George Oundo, Paul Kagaba, Kayanja’s and all the pastors’ victims wouldn’t have come up; father Musaala, Bishop Senyonjo and sodomy in schools, churches, prisons, bars, video halls, etc, wouldn’t have been exposed. Sodomy is right in our midst.
Threats to sue us will neither stop nor scare us. Nor will cases filed, if any, stop us from pursuing the cause. If anything, they will just make us stronger, and our cause and case better understood. If people can break the law to do evil, there is no reason why we will not ignore any limitations imposed on us to limit us from giving our best for the sake of our nation.
The need for a Parliamentary / judicial or independent probe
Despite existence of victims accusing Pr Kayanja and other leaders across spiritual divides, not only of sodomy but of other evils too; these leaders continue to deny. Some elements in our Police and other Government structures are just doing them good to cover up. The victims and their Good Samaritans are also kidnapped, tortured and harassed by the very institutions that would be very supportive. In such a scenario, we now have no confidence that the Police as it is can handle cases against such powerful shots without fear, favour or compromise; not that we don’t commend their efforts where due. Though none is above the law, some of the resource full abusers commit their evils with impunity and beyond all doubts, they are the laws.
If there are accusations on the one side and denials, cover-up, harassments and traumatizing of victims and the Good Samaritans on the other, it becomes necessary for the establishment of an independent inquiry. Hence, we recommend:
- That Government immediately sets up an open inquiry / Judicial Probe/ Parliamentary Inquest into homosexualism and other vices eating up the core and fibre of our nation, so that victims can come out when assured of protection. To a great degree, we can’t trust the Police as it is today because of our past experience with victims who try to come out and now Pr Bob Kayiira’s sad story, harassed by elements of the force that would have helped us in our effort to rid this nation of homosexualism. Any new law without an inquiry, no matter how tough will prove just as useless as existing laws because of inability to detect the cause of problem. Former Singapore Premier, Lee Kwan Yew said, ‘To understand the present and anticipate the future, one must know the past, enough to have a sense of the history of a people.’ His analysis must be taken seriously.And we are not ready to risk the lives of victims into the hands of the Police whose composition we are not sure of and has shown us a touch in the Pr Kayiira kidnap saga and Miracle-wood.Failure to establish the inquiry will mean Government abdication of her duty of care to her greatly desperate people.
- That all tormenting allegations against Pr Bob Kayiira be unconditionally dropped. He was trying to rescue the nation from the grips of homosexuals and there is no better way he could have done it given the limitations we have; which Government agencies have failed to do. Remember, we have more victims who fear to come out because of the Homos powerful connections and this is lesson enough. If Police is used to harass those who dare to fight moral decadence and reduce criminality, can it be trusted?
- That Government deals with elements in its agencies that are used to harass victims and us in our calls into service God and humanity and the entire campaign, and those producing fake reports because of corruption.
- That the Inspector General of Police, Major-General Kale Kaihura requests Parliament to take on the inquiries into cases of human rights’ violations in spiritual entities, because many of his officers find companionship with the perpetrators of evil. Some are actually members of their congregations and shrines.
As I have always maintained:
Mob justice is not a deliberate attempt to flout the law, but an inner compulsion due to people’s lack of trust in the judicial and entire law enforcement system based on any previous attempts to get justice in vain.
Murder carries a death sentence, but because of difficulties in accessing justice, people deliberately resort to mob justice!
Pr Kayanja’s conscience:
If Kayanja’s conscience is clear that he is in no way involved in sodomy, why bother to trail and use all force and bullets to kidnap those trying to investigate him for sodomy? Why labor to treat Ugandans to Bi-Nigeria-like films made in Miracle-Wood? I think he has sunk himself just too low and exposed himself.
This must be his last ditch effort to try and derail the on-going anti-sodomy campaign aimed at routing out the evil that has penetrated deep into the core and fiber of our nation and is keeping all right-thinking spiritual leaders, politicians, civic leaders, parents and members of the entire public on their toes, concerned about the safety of our children and has so far bore fruits.
My simple advice to him, if he still has any sense of God in his life is to turn the American Evangelical Tedd Haggard way, admit responsibility hurting young boys and resign. Accusing Pr. Kyazze, Male, Sempa and others is not going to help him, after all, even we chose to quit our stand with sodomy victims, which incidentally we are not ready to do; the boys can turn to many more of the leaders across denominational divides in the anti-sodomy campaign? Will they all be kidnapped, tortured and detained?
Let all Ugandans also look beyond what their leaders say and make sober judgment for themselves. Let not this issue be confused for a fight between pastors. It is a real divide between groups of Christians over Christian values, principles and character. Even if we left the scene, the divide must continue because light and darkness cannot walk together: simple and clear.
Finally, Kayanja’s attack on us through the media were uncalled for; it is propaganda engineered by experts in fooleries to try and derail the ongoing great campaign against evils and restoration of morals, which needs be treated with all the contempt it deserves. However, I congratulate him for his transition from a churchman into a film-star producer, treating Ugandans to fiction films, explaining why he has gathered bullets, chariots and men, not God for his personal, wealth and church protection.
Let there be an inquiry / probe and all other recommendations to solve the problem and clean up the mess in our midst.
