While not so many US Evangelicals are crying foul to the latest release of Dan Brown’s Book, ‘The Lost Symbol’, yet the future implications are quite destructive to the premise that US Political Evangelicals dearly hold…that America was founded as a “Christian Nation”.
The Da Vinci Code, a previous best seller by Dan Brown galvanized many Right wing US Evangelicals and drew quite a response with Evangelical Authors rising up to the challenge of “defending the faith”. None fictional Rebuttals to the Da Vinci Code such as ”The Da Vinci Con”, ''Breaking the Da Vinci Code'' among others circulated Christian book stores.
Christians from major denominations rose to “the call” to renounce the fictional narratives in the Da Vinci Code; from Right Wing Political Evangelicals to the Catholic Church, The Da Vinci Code was seen and is still seen as a major attack on the Christian Faith – a total blasphemy against the Person of Jesus Christ.
There is no doubt that the “fictional writings” of Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code were and are still an attack against true and authentic Christianity and the Person of Jesus Christ by basically using fiction, and fabricated history to present ‘another Jesus’ other than the Historical Jesus Christ.
Yet still the response of Christian Authors and some leaders was not as in much to defend the Christian Faith as in defending Christian Doctrinal Faith as we have it in the New Testament but rather a defense of the Christian Establishment. This is why many of the so-called authors who chose to write none fictional rebuttals to the Da Vinci Code used this as an ‘opportunity’...
Yet some of the same authors have never written books to address the false doctrines and teachings that are contrary to the Christian Faith in Christendom. There are many teachings that contradict the New Testament in Catholicism and Evangelical America for example, yet these establishments were more worried about contradicting “fictional writings” of a Dan Brown in the Da Vinci Code.
The fear was that a large numbers of especially young believers would leave the Christian Faith for Secular Humanism as they found out that the writings of Dan Brown “debunked” Christianity. This would mean fewer parishioners and thus the crumbling of the ‘Christian Establishment’. Yet True and Genuine Christianity has withstood the forces of secularism throughout the years for 2000 years now.
With the release of “The Lost Symbol”, Dan Brown actually causes real havoc to the ‘Christian Establishment’ in Evangelical America. In his new book, Dan Brown presents again “fictional writing” this time about the Freemasons and their Symbols in America. Symbols like those on the US Dollar Bill and Washington DC etc.
If this sounds like Freemason conspiracy theory in mainstream America, Dan Brown debunks that notion in his “fictional writing”, for the symbols are real, historical, and historically authored by Freemasons who exist to this day and still oversee some of the Masonic lodges across the USA.
Yet still Dan Brown undercuts the political ‘Christian Establishment’ in America by linking the symbols, Masonic lodges, and all the Freemason ideologies to the founding fathers of the United States – and Presidents of the United States of America, which is a true fact despite the claims to ‘Christianize’ American Presidents by Evangelicals.
This is far the most powerful ‘Dan Brown’ blow, cleverly, subtly, and intelligently against the notion by political evangelical Americans that America was founded as a Christian Nation. Yet no Evangelical has risen to debunk Dan Brown’s latest “fiction” simply because many view it simplistically as an attack against perhaps the Freemasons.
On their part the Freemasons were ecstatic and could hardly await the publication of ‘The Last Symbol’, as this gave them free publicity as a clean organization of good guys who played a major and powerful role in the founding and shaping of the USA as a free and democratic society.
For the Freemasons, Dan Brown removes them from the secret and dark and places them in mainstream America. At the end of the day, all the fear and paranoia raised by in the Conspiracy World against the Freemasons is thwarted and instead acceptability and appreciation is generated…for how can anyone regard those who helped found this great United States as dark and evil?
Yet even those ‘Christian Establishment’ authors who “debunked” Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code will have a very hard time debunking the historical contributions of the Freemasons in the founding of America, for the symbols ‘are everywhere’ in the USA, from the Dollar Bill to Washington DC. Instead Political Evangelical American apologists are found to be fallacious and presenting ‘fictitious facts’ that the USA was founded and established by Evangelical Christian ‘Founding Fathers’. So, either Dan Brown or US Political Evangelicals are presenting “fictional writing”…
Yet even far more reaching is that Dan Brown’s new book, ‘The Lost Symbol’ is presented at least as not ‘anti-Christian’ as was the case with The Da Vinci Code. This ‘cover’ means wider acceptability and readership in America without the distractions that The Da Vinci Code generated.
Finally, many young people will be able to discover that perhaps America was never founded by “Christian Founding Fathers” and never established as a “Christian Nation”. The Freemason physical symbols totally outweigh any evidence that US Political Evangelical can present in their spurious claim that America was founded and established as a Christian Nation. Students can now read ‘The Lost Symbol’ and simply take a tour in Washington DC to see history themselves.
Yet still True Christianity has never claimed founding any nation. For Christians look forward to that city founded not by Human hands but one built by God Himself…they look forward to the New Jerusalem that is built by God and not Human hands.
Early Christians never claimed that Rome, Ephesus, or even Jerusalem were founded as Christian Cities or Nations. Yet the Gospel was never lost but preached daily so that every human being would have the opportunity through Jesus Christ to be a part of those who will dwell in the New Jerusalem – the City not built by human hands and masons but by God.
